Pickle in the Middle is quickly becoming an Adelaide institution. Celebrated for its hands-on pickling workshops, legendary reinvention of the humble toastie and for providing daily access to the many seasonal delights of South Australia’s best quality producers.

Waste not want not could well be their mantra. Almost everything is made in-house, from scratch, right down to the pectin for their jams. With its commitment to sustainable eating, Pickle in the Middle cultivates a breakfast and lunch culture you can feel good about.

Perhaps this sustainable approach is also somewhat responsible for their inventive menu – either way, it’s a delicious array of good, wholesome, approachable food with just enough of a twist – and perfectly complimented by their coffee, which they give equal amounts of attention to.

Their crowd-pleasing crumpets are expected in flavour, but more wholesome, and come topped with their just-as-impressive house made jam. The must-try dish is sardines on toast, and you haven’t lived if you haven’t devoured the famous cheese and pickle toastie yet.
