ABOUTThe find… An authentic, delicious Latin American inspired experience.

The crowd… Everyone will love Candela and your senses are set to be tantalised!

The inside word… Meaning “flame” or “fiery”, Candela brings a taste of South America to Adelaide.

Aburst of colour greets you upon entering Candela and contagious Latin music and aromas transport you to the streets of South America.

Owned by a happy and energetic Venezuelan couple Oglidis and Mijail, their passion for cooking runs in the family.

Growing up watching family run a small business that sold homemade pastries and empanadas, Oglidis always dreamt of her own restaurant. She wanted to follow in her father and uncle footsteps aiming to cook and sell delicious street food.

“We want to offer the best of the Latin-American street food to the lovely people of Adelaide,” they said.

“In Spanish we would say the “Sabor & Sazon” which means ‘Flavour & Seasoning’. Our food has that homey feeling, decent food from the heart, we cook with passion; we enjoy what we do, so the dishes reflect our enthusiasm.”

Dishes have been influenced by Venezuelan, Mexican, Cuban, Colombian and Argentinian cuisine and flavours, with specialties including mouth-watering Cassava chips, Arepa, Empanada, and the very famous Churros con Chocolate!

Candela is small and cosy, with warm and friendly staff; you feel like you are at your friends’ house, sharing some nibbles, a good wine and the day’s events.

The restaurant also caters for private functions and parties, and has a food truck called “Fritangas” currently selling South American street food.

With dine-in and take away options, Candela must be tried and soon!
